David P. Hatz
Consulting Chemist

With more than 30 years of experience, Dave Hatz performs material and process control, contaminant analysis, coating/finishes analysis and failure analysis – often with the help of the company's scanning electron microscope. He also is responsible for all of Crane Engineering's artifact handling and storage and has extensive knowledge of vendor capabilities and testing laboratories.

Dave's background includes management of chemical, metallurgical and electrochemical laboratories. He has been a principal engineer and chemist with project management responsibilities, including problem analysis, identification of appropriate analytical protocol, financial monitoring and preparation of final project documentation.

His projects have included timing devices, nonaqueous reserve batteries and appliance life-cycle testing, to name a few. He also has extensive experience developing automated, high-pressure water-jet systems.

Dave is a member of the American Chemical Council and ASM International.
