Steven M. Hamilton, P.E., CFEI
Steve Hamilton is an accomplished Electrical Engineer with more than 27 years of experience in electrical engineering and information technology. His engineering experience spans areas of design, power systems and electromagnetic interference modeling and analysis, construction support, and construction compliance assessment. In addition, he has experience in testing and failure analysis of insulation, electric motors and power transmission.
As an expert, Steve specializes in risk assessment and failure analysis, malfunctions and incidents involving electrical systems, equipment and components.
Prior to joining Crane Engineering, he was a Senior Systems Engineer at LTK Engineering Services in Minneapolis where he implemented design and construction aspects of traction power and system-wide electrical for rail systems. Project scope of work included the testing of protocols, failure analysis of light rail power systems and technical report writing. Steve has developed software for design calculations, informational displays and developed specialty systems for flat wheel detection and vibration monitoring. Steve also has served as the Principal IT Specialist/Supervisor for Hennepin County, Minnesota, where he managed staff support for over 1,000 users.
Steve is a licensed professional engineer and holds a B.S., Electrical Engineering, Southern Illinois University, Edwardsville, IL; and a M.S., Management of Technology, University of Minnesota, Minneapolis Campus. He is a NAFI Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator (CFEI), an IEEE Senior Member and a former Pennsylvania State Police Reservist.
