Scott Dillon is a licensed professional engineer with more than 16 years of experience in the areas of fire and explosion investigation, fire protection engineering and fire science. Scott provides clients with expert consultation regarding fire protection and alarm systems, life safety, fire dynamics, fire testing as well as compliance with codes and standards. Scott has extensive experience performing investigations of fires involving residences, vehicles and industrial facilities.
Prior to joining Crane Engineering, Scott was a senior managing engineer at Exponent, where he applied his knowledge of fire protection engineering and fire science principles to the analysis and investigation of building fire and life safety systems, the causation of fires and explosions and the evaluation of product liability issues.
Prior to Exponent, Scott was employed as a fire research engineer with the ATF Fire Research Laboratory (FRL). In this role, he provided support to fire investigations and performed numerous small-and large-scale fire simulations to assess the ignition and growth of fires.
Scott has a M.S. and a B.S. in Fire Protection Engineering from the University of Maryland. He is an IAAI Certified Fire Investigator, as well as a NAFI Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator (CFEI) and Certified Vehicle Fire Investigator (CVFI). He is also a member of the Society of Fire Protection Engineers, National Fire Protection Association, International Association of Arson Investigators, National Association of Fire Investigators, International Code Council, National Fire Sprinkler Association, and ASTM International. Scott has his professional engineering license in several states, He also serves as a member of the NFPA Technical Committees for Fire Tests and Combustible Metals and for Metal Dusts.
