Mark Weiss is a highly skilled laboratory chemist and technician in polymer analysis and processing. As an expert in plastics and chemistry, he consults with Crane Engineering colleagues and clients. Among other investigation support, the firm looks to Mark’s chemical analysis skills for the identification of generic materials to the most complex failure analysis. He also maintains the firm’s in-house chemistry lab.

Mark draws on 25 years of experience in the chemicals industry. For more than 15 years, he was integral to the lab operations at a contract manufacturing firm that specializes in precision injection molding and assembly where he analyzed plastic resins and parts from prototyping through production as well as failure analysis and reverse engineering. Previously, he held lab technician roles at Dow Chemical Company and Dow Corning Corporation focusing on both polymers and ceramics.

Complementing Mark’s lab analysis skills are his outside interests and hands-on experience in residential construction (including plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems), metalworking, and machinery.

He holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry/Polymers (ACS Certified) from Michigan Technological University.
