Lloyd Meissner brings to his position over 31 years of experience in the field of metallurgical engineering and materials science. Leading Crane Engineering’s industrial team, he performs root cause failure analyses and lends his expertise to product development and design projects. Lloyd employs an extensive “toolbox” of state-of-the-art analytical techniques and methods, including real-time X-ray and CT Scanning, to understand and troubleshoot the physical, chemical and mechanical properties of metals, SEM/EDS analysis, plastics, ceramics, coatings and composite materials.

Prior to joining the firm, Lloyd worked as an applications engineer and earlier as the lead metallurgical laboratory engineer in the Aerospace Division of Honeywell International. There he conducted failure analyses of avionics components and supported design, production, quality and purchasing groups on a wide variety of materials-related problems. He also held lead engineering positions in the company’s defense and underseas systems division, working with high-density materials, ammunition and electronics systems.

Lloyd earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Metallurgical/Materials Science Engineering from Michigan Technological University. He is trained and certified in Six Sigma methodology.

A registered professional engineer, Lloyd is a 30-year member of ASM International. He holds a U.S. patent on the design of an electrode connector for ring laser gyros.
