David is a professor at the University of Wisconsin – Madison in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and holds an affiliated appointment with the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering. David is also the director of the Wisconsin Traffic Operations and Safety Laboratory and the Wisconsin Driving Simulator Laboratory. David works with Crane engineers providing consulting services to clients in the areas of vehicle accident reconstruction, traffic operations, roadway design, pedestrian and bicycle safety, traffic control devices and human factors/driver behavior.
David received a Doctor of Philosophy in Transportation Engineering from Texas A&M University, a Master of Science in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the University of Wisconsin – Madison, and a Bachelor of Science in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the University of Wisconsin – Madison.
David is a Registered Wisconsin Professional Engineer and the former chair of the Institute of Transportation Engineer’s Pedestrian and Bicycle Council and the Transportation Research Board’s Traffic Control Devices Committee. He has published over 200 journal papers and reports in his field.
